Francis Ouimet of the Woodland Golf Club, near Boston, who the year
before had made front-page news by defeating Ray and Vardon in the Open
play-off at Brookline, Mass., won the Amateur at Ekwanok Country Club,
Manchester, Vt., by defeating Travers in the final, 6 and 5.
