A Texas college boy, Billy Maxwell, of the Odessa Country Club, cut through a record field of 1,416 entrants and defeated Joseph F. Gagliardi, a White Plains, N.Y., lawyer, 4 and 3, in the final at the Saucon Valley Country Club, in Bethlehem, Pa.

Again the members of the successful Walker Cup Team were eliminated without regard to their prestige, and only Charles R. Coe went as far as the quarter-finals.
