Richard D. Chapman, playing from the Winged Foot Golf Club, Mamaroneck,
N.Y., was medalist with 140 (four below par) and played 157 holes in eight
under par at Winged Foot. W.B. "Duff" McCullough, whom he defeated in
the final, 11 and 9, had been second low qualifier with 67-77.
