Robert T. Jones, Jr., of the Atlanta Athletic Club's East Lake Course, crashed through after playing in five Championships. It was the beginning of the Jones reign.

Jones crushed Ouimet, 11 and 10, in his semi-final match, and George Von Elm, 9 and 8, in the final at Merion Cricket Club's East Course in Ardmore, Pa. He was to come back there six years later to complete his Grand Slam.
