Jess W. Sweetser, of the Siwanoy Country Club, Bronxville, N.Y., 20,
defeated all the established players: defender Guilford, Bob Jones, Charles
Evans, Jr., and Willie Hunter at The Country Club, Brookline, Mass. in
September. He defeated Evans, 3 and 2, in the final, and in a brilliantly
played semi-final match he eliminated Bob Jones, 8 and 7.
